Came in for oil change and break sensor issue. Representative tried selling me entire rear end break system, offered me lunch vehicle ride. After I physically walked into the shop, I only needed one set of pads and I decided to replace the rotor. This diagnosis should have been done by a professional and sent me on my way. 630$ later and 3 hours on site. With oil and this outcome could have been done more efficiently.

My trip to town suddenly changed when my brakes suddenly stopped working. Drove immediately to Don Johnson in Hayward. They got my truck right in and diagnosed the problem, the vacuum assist had gone out. They had the part in stock and had my truck back by noon the next day. I had an oil change inspection on my car 2 weeks prior and all was good. Then last Saturday we noticed a liquid coming out of the car. It was antifreeze! I called Don Johnson’s and spoke with a very knowledgeable Steve. “Have it towed here don’t drive it!” S1 towed it to DJ. Monday morning about 8:00 Mark Sandstrom called me and they had completed an inspection and my car needed a new radiator. This work was completed by Wednesday. Unbelievable!! I couldn’t ask for better service, care and help. Thank you Mark, Steve and service personal FOR ALL YOUR HELP. I appreciate everything.

My truck was towed, in on 4/23, it took until 5/1 to determine the problem. On that day I was informed of the issue and approved the cost and repair. Was told parts wouldn't be in until Monday 5/5, and it would be worked in the schedule. I heard nothing by Friday 5/9, so I went in the Hayward location to inquire and was told they lost the parts and needed to reorder them. I was told they would be in Monday 5/12 as they would expedite them. I called Monday afternoon to verify that the parts had arrived and was told not until Tuesday 5/13. The truck was not ready for pick up until Thursday 5/15. This was not the first occasion that there was a problem with obtaining parts for a needed repair on my vehicle. I had also dropped off a $40.00 off repair coupon which ended up not being applied to my bill as requested.

Everyone was pleasant. On the day of my appt, I was scheduled to have my grill replaced, as it was damaged when I purchased the vehicle. After about a 2.5 hrs wait, my oil had been changed, however, the grill was not able to be replaced. It seems another part is needed in order to complete that job. Another appt will need to be scheduled once that part comes in. I was a little disappointed in that, as I travel quite a distance to get to the dealership.

I was on a fishing vacation when my truck had issues. It seemed like a serious mechanical problem. In all my life as a “Chevrolet only” driver, I’ve never been treated better at a dealership service center. From the initial contact to the service manager I was treated like a lifelong customer. They knew I was stranded and went the extra mile to figure out the issue, find a solution and had me back on the road 2.5 -3 hours later. No joke, I’m in the market for new vehicle for my wife and we just might make the 6.5 hour drive up to Don Johnson to purchase our next Traverse. Told Service Manager the truck used 2 it's of oil in less than 2000 miles and specifically asked that this be noted on the paperwork in case it comes up as a problem. Was told it was above normal consumption but that they would use this oil change to "establish a baseline." I could find no notations on the paperwork documenting the excessive oil consumption. This worries me because if this becomes a major problem i don't want to receive the blame for negligence. Also not sure tires were rotated as the key for the wheel locks was never accessed.

Terrible! We have a 2024 GMC under warranty that was flat bedded to the dealership on 08/26/25 due to no reverse, check engine light, and would not go over 30 MPH. We call DON JOHNSON and they transferred our call to towing company. We paid $232.10 and now DON JOHNSON will not reimburse us for the tow. PLUS - the never got our truck on the lift to determine problem until approximately 4:00 on 08/26/26. Once diagnosed, they determined parts were in stock and a 4 hour fix. WHAT!!!! We were without a vehicle all Labor Day weekend. Their service was not prompt for a vehicle under warranty and we are still fighting about this $232.10 towing bill! We had to get our salesman involved to get some help. The DON JOHNSON service in Hayward was zero help.

I appreciate the cleanliness and professionalism of your dealership and staff. The work (tires, shocks, alignment, oil change) were done earlier than I anticipated. Everything appears to be in great working order. One area of improvement would be trying to make an appointment. Your online scheduler is fine for just a simple oil change. But trying to get through your "call center" is frustrating. I had to call back twice to finally get through to a service writer which took a couple of days. Then after I was scheduled I kept getting emails asking me to schedule my service. Very confusing. I wish i could call a service writer directly. Just something to be worked on but I would highly and have recommended your dealership to friends.

I came in for an oil change and they were to put new wipers on windshield. They came to talk to me after and said that the guy that was putting the wiper on the back had broke the arm. First of all I never asked for a new wiper back there and nobody came to ask me about it either. It was a day that I really could have used the wiper on the back. They were to call me when it came in the next day and they did but it didn't come in. And I haven't gotten a phone call yet about it being in. The discount they gave me on the bill that day wasn't very satisfactory to me. For part of the discount was coupon that I had given them towards my service which shouldn't have been included in the discount. A more satisfactory discount would have been not paying for the wipers. Yes they are going to pay for an install the one for the back of course but it was a big inconvenience for me not to have one that day and the next. And now I have to come back to have them replace the rear one that they broke that I never asked them to replace. After this I will probably not bring my car in for service even though I bought it at your dealership.

Clusterf*#k. Dealing with a central switchboard instead of talking to the actual dealership is a mess. Our appointment, made online as requested, was lost. found our vehicle was assigned to a different owner! Mark at the Hayward dealership was amazing, found the appointment, reassigned to us, got us rescheduled, even picked up our car for service since we were stuck out of town due to the government shutdown. Some of the items we had originally scheduled did not get completed, but we can live with that. Again, thank you Mark for going above and beyond to help us out!
